Посольство России в Чехии
On the eve of the 79th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Embassy of Russia in the Czech Republic once again joined the international action “Garden of Memory”. Two lilac seedlings of the domestic varieties “Marshal Zhukov” and “Marshal Konev” were planted on the territory of the Deputy Representative, chosen to symbolically perpetuate the contribution of the great Soviet colonels in the fight against Nazism, Georgiy Konstantinovich Zhukov, called by the people the Marshal of Victory, and Ivan Stepanovich Konev, commander of the troops of the 1st Ukrainian Army The front which liberated Prague in 1945.
“We have a good tradition of participating in the “Garden of Memory” campaign in the Embassy. This year has been no exception. The important mission of planting seedlings always belongs to the children of Embassy employees, because it is to the younger generation that we pass on the sacred mission of remembering and honoring the achievements of the soldiers of the Red Army, to preserve for new generations an authentic, untold historical truth, which now takes on a special significance” – Russian Ambassador to the Czech Republic A. B. Zmeevsky.
