13.02.2025 Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani Visits Czech Republic: Strengthening Ties and Exploring Business Opportunities

On February 13, 2025, the Czech Republic welcomed the Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani, Prime Minister of Iraq on an official visit aimed at deepening diplomatic relations and exploring new avenues for economic cooperation. The visit offered a platform to solidify the existing ties between the two nations, marked by discussions at the highest levels and a dedicated business forum held at the prestigious Hotel Four Seasons in Prague.

 

Upon arrival, the Iraqi Prime Minister was received with ceremonious honor, reflecting the significance of this diplomatic engagement. Key figures within the Czech government, including the Prime Minister and members of the cabinet, participated in the welcoming ceremony. The highlight of the visit, the Iraq-Czech Business Forum, took place at the iconic Hotel Four Seasons. This event brought together over 200 business leaders, industry experts, and government officials from both countries. Organized by the Czech Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Iraq Chamber of Commerce, the forum aimed to create a dynamic environment for exploring joint ventures and investment opportunities.

 

A series of panel discussions provided in-depth analysis on specific industries. Topics included renewable energy, reconstruction projects, and digital transformation initiatives in Iraq, with Czech companies showcasing their expertise and innovative solutions. The insights shared during these sessions underscored the complementary strengths of both economies and identified promising collaborative pathways.

 

Additionally, the forum featured networking sessions where companies could engage in direct discussions, forming connections that have the potential to lead to investment commitments and collaborative projects. Among the attending Czech firms were leading entities in engineering and manufacturing, ready to share their experiences and foster partnerships with Iraqi counterparts.

 

At the closing of the forum, several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between Czech firms and Iraqi agencies, signaling tangible outcomes from the discussions. These agreements encompassed diverse sectors including workforce training, equipment export, and technological assistance for infrastructure improvements—a testament to the immediate impact and forward momentum generated by the forum.
