Winter’s Return: Europe Braces for Stormy Weather and Freezing Temperatures

According to German meteorologists, a deep pressure low is moving into Europe to bring an end to the spring-like weather and will return winter next week. There will be a drop in temperatures by five degrees, freezing at night, and snow is expected to fall in the Midlands.

The spring-like weather is expected to last until the end of this week but a deep-pressure low should be moving into Europe by the weekend bringing stormy weather, with strong winds and rain. German Weather Service (DWD) predict that Germany will face threat of thunderstorms and strong winds over the coming weekend. Coastal regions will face winds that could reach up to 110 km/h and North Sea and Baltic Sea will face winds of up to 120 km/h.

The Harz and Erzgebirge mountains will also be worst affected, with wind gusts of up to 140 km/h. The Czech Republic will experience cooler air and drop to -5°C in the morning lows and during the afternoon, temperatures will be around 5°C and windy. Meteorologist Dagmar Honsová added that it could snow even at middle altitudes and the weather will start to resemble winter.
