The Embassy’s staff of Georgia to the Czech Republic gathered together with the Ambassador of Georgia to the Czech Republic, H.E. Ms. Tea Maisuradze in the occasion of the anniversary of the Czechoslovak Velvet Revolution in order to honor the Czech culture and the democratic values that the students of the revolution fought for.

“U příležitosti 34. výročí sametové revoluce, bychom rádi vzpomněli na všechny studenty, kteří 17. listopadu 1989 sehráli klíčovou roli při pádu komunistického režimu v Československu. Abychom symbolicky uctili je i českou kulturu, oblékli jsme si folklorní kroje, které střípek české národní kultury reprezentují. Rádi bychom v tento den vzdali hold všem, kteří před 34 lety bojovali za svobodu a demokracii. Ostatně jsou to právě tyto hodnoty, které symbolizují naše česko-gruzínské přátelství již více než 30 let.”

“On the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution (17 November 1989) we would like to remember all the students who played a key role in the fall of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia. In order to symbolically honor them and the Czech culture, we dressed into folk costumes that represent a fragment of the Czech national culture. On this day, we would like to pay tribute to all those who fought for freedom and democracy 34 years ago. After all, it is precisely these shared values that symbolize the Czech-Georgian friendship already for 30 years.”
