A newborn baby girl was found in a baby box in Znojmo. She was wearing her mother’s T-shirt

The use of baby boxes has been a controversial topic globally, with some people viewing it as a safe alternative for mothers who cannot take care of their newborns, while others consider it to be a violation of the child’s rights. Baby boxes were first introduced in the Czech Republic in 2005 and since then, 84 baby boxes have been installed across the country. The latest baby box to be opened is located in Znojmo, which has been in operation since March 2015.

The baby box located in Znojmo has been used to save the life of a newborn baby girl who was found on Tuesday evening. The baby girl, who has been named Květuše, is estimated to be around two days old and weighed about three kilograms. She was wearing a T-shirt that is believed to have been left by her mother. Květuše is considered to be in good health and is now being taken care of by healthcare professionals.

Baby boxes have been installed with the aim of preventing the health and lives of newborn babies from being threatened. When a baby is placed in the box, heating and ventilation are activated, along with an alarm that alerts healthcare staff. This provides an opportunity for the baby to receive the necessary medical attention and for their life to be saved.

The baby boxes are designed in such a way that they are easily accessible to anyone who needs to use them, without any fear of being caught or observed. However, despite the benefits, baby boxes have been met with criticism from some quarters, who argue that they contravene certain articles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, including the right to a name, identity, nationality, and the right to know one’s parents.

In conclusion, the use of baby boxes has been a crucial tool in preventing the health and lives of newborns from being threatened. While they have their critics, the benefits of baby boxes cannot be ignored. They provide a safe alternative for mothers who cannot take care of their newborns, while ensuring that the baby is given a chance to live and receive medical attention. It is important to strike a balance between ensuring the safety of newborns and respecting the rights of the child, which is essential for their future well-being and growth.
