A train kills a man in Pardubice, and traffic between Prague and Moravia stops

A man was hit by a train on Thursday afternoon near Chvaletice in the Pardubice region and did not survive the accident. Due to the tragedy, the railways have suspended transport on the railway corridor between Prague and the Moravian regions.

“A passenger train traveling from Koln to St nad Orlic collided with a man at the level crossing, protected by traffic lights and barriers, at 14:12.He was killed on the spot. So far, I have no information that the signaling is not working,” said Martin Drápal, spokesman for the Railway Inspectorate.

According to information from ČD, an alternative bus service has been introduced in the section Záboří nad Labem – Řečany nad Labem and back.

Long-distance trains were diverted via Velký Osek and Chlumec nad Cidlinou. According to preliminary estimates, traffic on the corridor will resume around 16:00.
