ASEAN Committee boosts charity work in Czech Republic

The ASEAN Committee in the Czech Republic (ACP) has recently donated food to the Czech Federation of Food Banks as part of its efforts to assist local people in need. The ACP is made up of embassies of six ASEAN member states including Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

During the ceremony, the Thai Ambassador and rotating chair of the committee, Phasporn Sangasubana expressed his desire to collaborate with the federation to provide aid to those who need it the most. He also expressed his hopes that the ACP’s donation activities will continue in the coming years.

Veronika Lachova, the CEO of the Czech Federation of Food Banks, commended the ACP’s contribution, saying that donations by embassies of ASEAN member states have become a meaningful activity over the years. The food gifts will be distributed to those in need, particularly women, children, disadvantaged families, and refugees in the country.

Established in 1994, the Czech Federation of Food Banks is a patronage of 15 food banks nationwide. These food banks are non-profit organizations that collect food and distribute them to partner charities and other charitable organizations. The aim is to ensure that food reaches children, the elderly, single parents, the disabled, the homeless, and others who are struggling.

According to reports from Czech media, an increasing number of local people are seeking help from food banks due to rising prices and financial difficulties. Many food banks have reported shortages of supply due to the high number of new registrants.

The ACP’s donation is a timely intervention that will go a long way in assisting people in need. As the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to take a toll on people’s lives and livelihoods, there is a growing need for interventions that provide support and assistance to those who are struggling to make ends meet.

The ACP’s donation to the Czech Federation of Food Banks is an excellent example of how countries and organizations can work together to support their communities. It highlights the importance of collaboration and the need for international cooperation in tackling the challenges that face our world today.
