Babiš’s words outraged the Poles and were noticed in Lithuania

The recent statement made by the Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has caused outrage among Poland and Lithuania. Babiš had said that Poland and Lithuania should not be in the EU, this statement was made during an interview with Czech weekly magazine Týden. Babiš’s statement has been criticized by the leaders of both countries.

The Polish Prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki has described the statement as “absurd and unacceptable”, while Lithuania’s foreign minister Gabrielius Landsbergis has said that the statement is a “provocation”.

Babiš’s statement has also been criticized by the European Commission, which has stated that every country has the right to decide its own future and that the EU’s doors remain open to countries that meet the criteria for membership.
