Ballerina, the John Wick spinoff starring Ana de Armas and Keanu Reeves, is back filming in Prague with two major sequences shooting in the city center this week and early next week before filming wraps in early February.

Ballerina has been shooting in Prague and surrounding areas of the Czech Republic since November, but took a brief hiatus over the Christmas holidays. Filming resumed in Moravia earlier this month before heading back to Prague.

Through January 26, Ballerina is shooting in the area of Old Town by the busy Dlouhá street in Prague’s city center. The section of Dlouhá between Rybná and Masná is closed for parking, as are areas of nearby Haštalská, Haštalské náměstí, Kozí, Rybná, and Masná streets. Replacement parking for residents has been made available in nearby lots and garages.

From January 29 through February 1, filming for Ballerina will take place in the area surrounding Prague’s National Theatre. Portions of Divadelní, Ostrovní and Národní streets will be closed for both parking and traffic, with film units setting up in the location.

Two years ago, portions of Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier were also shot in the same area.

While John Wick star Keanu Reeves was initially in Prague during the filming of Ballerina, he left after a few weeks and does not appear to have returned to the Czech capital.

In addition to Reeves and Ana de Armas in the lead role, Ballerina also stars Norman Reedus, Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Anjelica Huston, Ian McShane, and Lance Reddick.

Star Ana de Armas recently appeared on the The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and briefly discussed shooting the action scenes in Prague with Reeves.

The two sequences shooting in Prague this week and early next might be the last major scenes shot for Ballerina, which is expected to wrap its Czech shoot on February 5. Local production company Czech Anglo Productions, which also handled the recent shoot of The Crow in Prague, coordinated the Ballerina shoot.

Ballerina is directed by Len Wiseman (Underworld, Total Recall, Live Free or Die Hard) from a screenplay by Shay Hatten, Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman), and the director. John Wick director Chad Stahleski, Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee serve among the film’s producers.

The John Wick universe is quickly expanding, with John Wick 4 slated to hit cinemas worldwide on March 23, and The Continental, starring Mel Gibson and Colin Woodell, set to hit streaming services later this year.

An official release date for Ballerina has yet to be set, but look for the John Wick spinoff to premiere in early 2024.
