Chilly Days Ahead: Czech Republic Braces for Prolonged Cool Spell
The recent rapid cooling in the Czech Republic, experienced over the weekend, is set to persist, with temperatures expected to remain below 15 degrees in the coming days. However, the beginning of the week offers a silver lining with sunny weather, according to meteorologist Dagmar Honsová, who noted that clouds are unlikely to make an appearance until Thursday.
The early days of the week will be dominated by sunshine, courtesy of a high-pressure area exerting its influence. Nevertheless, mornings will bring frosty conditions, with temperatures plunging below -4 degrees, especially on Wednesday. The meteorologist indicated that predicting temperatures for the end of the week is challenging due to the formation of a frontal boundary over Europe, the exact positioning of which remains uncertain. “This can still significantly affect the temperatures. However, autumn has truly arrived,” she emphasized.
On Monday, the skies will range from clear to partly cloudy, with afternoon temperatures spanning 6 to 11 degrees Celsius. In mountainous areas, clouds and showers are possible, with snow anticipated above 700 meters.
Tuesday will see mostly cloudy conditions transitioning to partly cloudy as the day progresses. Morning temperatures will fluctuate between -2 and 4 degrees, while daytime temperatures will reach 8 to 12 degrees Celsius.
Wednesday is expected to begin even colder, with temperatures dropping to -4 to 2 degrees. However, the rest of the day will mirror the previous one, with temperatures ranging from 8 to 12 degrees. The sky will be primarily clear to partly cloudy, although more clouds will materialize throughout the day.
By Thursday, the weather will shift towards mostly cloudy to overcast, accompanied by scattered showers in select areas. Fortunately, temperatures will experience a slight uptick, eliminating the threat of frost. Morning temperatures will range from 0 to 4 degrees, with afternoon temperatures reaching 9 to 14 degrees Celsius.
Friday’s forecast predicts cloudiness with intermittent showers. Morning temperatures are expected to rise to 2 to 6 degrees, while the highest temperatures during the afternoon will fluctuate between 10 and 15 degrees, potentially soaring to 17 degrees in southern Moravia.
The weekend introduces an element of uncertainty associated with the frontal boundary. If the region falls within the warm sector of the frontal boundary, weekend temperatures could ascend to 17 degrees Celsius. However, if cooler conditions persist, maximum temperatures are likely to hover around 10 degrees Celsius. Regardless, the weekend outlook points to extensive cloud cover and the likelihood of precipitation, concluded Honsová.
