Construction of Olbrachtova D metro station to cause traffic disruptions in Prague 4

The Prague Public Transit Company (DP) is set to begin construction on the southern vestibule of the Olbrachtova D metro station in Prague 4. The project aims to connect the southern part of the city to its center, easing the city’s housing crisis. However, the construction of the approximately 110-meter-long section of Na Strži Street will result in significant traffic disruptions for the next three years. All traffic, including buses 124 and 170, will be rerouted as this section of Na Strži Street will be closed in both directions. The DP has urged drivers to avoid the area as much as possible, and local individual car traffic will be diverted to Antala Staška, Budějovická, and Olbrachtova streets.

Ondřej Boháč, director of the Planning and Development Institute of the City of Prague, highlighted the importance of Metro D, calling it the most significant infrastructure project in the city. The construction of the metro will connect the southern part of Prague to its center, which should help alleviate the city’s housing crisis. Construction sites can already be seen at planned stations, including Nádraží Krč, Nemocnice Krč, Nové Dvory, and the Libuš housing estate. These areas are expected to undergo significant transformation in the future in connection with the construction of Metro D.

The closure of Na Strži Street is expected to cause significant traffic disruptions, and buses 124 and 170 will be rerouted. Although the construction will cause inconveniences for drivers, it is crucial for the development of Prague’s infrastructure. In addition to connecting the southern part of the city to its center, it is expected to create new jobs and stimulate economic growth.

In conclusion, the construction of the southern vestibule of the Olbrachtova D metro station on Na Strži Street in Prague 4 is a significant infrastructure project that will help ease the city’s housing crisis. However, the closure of Na Strži Street will result in significant traffic disruptions for the next three years. The DP has urged drivers to avoid the area, and local individual car traffic will be diverted to alternative streets. The project is expected to create new job opportunities and boost economic growth in the region.
