Czech and Slovak Prime Ministers Call on EU to Maintain Targeted Pressure on Russia with Sanctions

On April 3, the prime ministers of the Czech Republic and Slovakia issued a joint statement calling on the European Union (EU) to maintain pressure on Russia through targeted sanctions. The statement emphasized the need for the EU and its allies to remain united in their efforts to hold Russia accountable for its invasion of Ukraine. The two leaders also urged the creation of mechanisms to punish those responsible for crimes related to the aggression, and prevent any attempts to bypass the sanctions. This statement was issued following a meeting between the Czech and Slovak governments, led by Petr Fiala and Eduard Heger, respectively, in the Slovak city of Trencin.
