Czech Republic Commemorates Turkish Democracy

By Pietro Andrea Podda pietroandreapodda@papodda.eu

On the 15th July, the Embassy of Türkiye has organised, as it has been happening for a number of years, the commemoration of the successful reaction of the democratically elected authorities of Türkiye against an extremely violent attempt of a coup

The event has been presided by His Excellency Egemen Bagis, Ambassador of Türkiye to the Czech Republic.  A number of Ambassadors, personalities of the business and political environment as well as friends of Türkiye and of Democracy have attended. In particular, the Czech President Emeritus Vaclav Klaus has offered a speech where he has highlighted the importance of the relationships between the two countries

In those days of July, dozens of innocents, among military and civil servants as well as patriots intending defending the order of their land,  lost their life while defending Democracy in their country. The Turkish authorities have always identfied the Gulen Movement as the organiser of the tragic events.  The forces loyal to the legitimate authorities prevailed and Order was restored.  Several participants to the bloody coup have been prosecuted according to the Law of the country

The Prague Forum respects private opinions, we can all have our different ideas about the various political leaders.  Nonetheless, the President Erdogan and the other persons governing Türkiye have been elected by the citizens of the country and nobody has the right to attempt ousting them through violence
