Czech Republic to Open 15 New Highways This Year and Begin Construction on 105 Kilometers

The Czech Republic is set to open 15 new highways this year, with an additional 105 kilometers of highways set to begin construction. The Minister of Transport, Martin Kupka (ODS), stated that up to 118 kilometers of new highways could be opened by 2024. Furthermore, 18 kilometers of first-class roads will be under construction, making a total of 260 kilometers of roads expected to be built in the country. The projects will cost around 65 billion crowns.

One of the significant projects is the completion of the D11 highway from the Polish border to Trutnov. The Poles will finish their part of the road in 2024, with the Czech section completed two years later. Construction on the D35 and D55 highways is also set to begin this year. Several areas of the D6 highway have already begun construction since the beginning of the year. According to Radek Matl, the head of the Road and Motorway Directorate, construction work did not stop during winter, which enabled the major projects to remain on schedule.

Only sections of the D48 and D7 highways will be opened this year, while the domestic highway network should be completed in its basic form by 2033, according to Kupka. He plans to present the construction outlook for the next ten years to the government later this year.

The expansion of the highway network in the Czech Republic will have significant benefits for the country’s infrastructure and economy. The new highways will improve transportation, making it easier for people and goods to move between different regions of the country. Additionally, the development of the highways will create jobs, which will contribute to the growth of the economy. The construction of new highways will also help to reduce traffic congestion, making the road network safer for drivers and passengers.

In conclusion, the expansion of the Czech Republic’s highway network is a significant step in improving the country’s infrastructure and economy. The government’s investment in transportation infrastructure will create jobs, boost the economy, and enhance the quality of life for citizens by making it easier to travel across the country.
