Czech tennis player Markéta Vondroušová has won the Wimbledon final and is back home.

Markéta Vondroušová defeated world number six Uns Jabir twice 6-4 in Saturday’s Wimbledon final to win her first career Grand Slam title.She attended the traditional champions’ dinner on Sunday and returned to her home club I on Tuesday. ČLTK Prague on Štvanice, where she spoke to journalists.At Tuesday’s press conference, she assessed: “I’ve proven to myself that I can play it. I’m proud that I handled it with my head, two weeks was difficult, I played a lot of matches, since the last few rounds I’ve had an awful lot of news. For me to be able to stand it is a surprise.

She came to the All England Club as the 42nd ranked player in the world, back on the rampage as the 10th ranked woman and surprise champion of the most famous tennis tournament in the world.
“The top ten is the meta for everyone who plays tennis, the grand slam is more, but for me to jump in the rankings like that is great, it is also an advantage for putting on other tournaments.” When she returns to the courts, she also expects her opponents to want to draw against her. “That’s a good problem, I have to expect it because I won a grand slam.”
Vondroušová won the famous Wimbledon as an unseeded player, something no one before her had done in the Open era (since 1968).
