Embassy of Slovenia in Prague / Velvyslanectví Republiky Slovinsko v Praze

Yesterday the 22nd was held in Dětenice municipality. Foerster’s Osenica festival. The festival, which is dedicated to the Foerster musical family and which is known mainly for the Slovenian composer and conductor of the Czech origin Anton Foerster, began with a morning mass in the church of the Birth of the Virgin Mary. Municipality of Dětenice and the Union of Czech Choirs, due to its connection with Slovenia, also invites choirs from Slovenia – this time the festival was attended by the Women’s vocal group Iris, who introduced itself with the song Ave Maria (Anton Foerster) in the morning section.
Because of bad weather, the afternoon part, which is usually held in the outdoor amphitheater, was also held in the same church where the Slovenian choir sang the following songs: Orion (Jure Robežnik, Tomaž Habe), I’m not waiting for May (Borut Lesjak, Nada nihgur), Girl and Lily (Anton Foerster), Frogs (Vinko Vodopivec, Jože Leskovar) and a wreath of folk. The evening concert took place in the church of Mary Magdalene in the town of Sobotka.
Mayor of Dětenice municipality showed the Slovenian assembly the birth house of Anton Foester, on which memorial plaques dedicated to the Foerster family are placed. Slovenian-Czech friendship linden is planted not far away.
On Sunday 2.6.2024 in the morning the choir also sang in the embassy garden.
Women’s vocal group Iris and the choir conductor, Mr. We thank Blaž Rojko for the great performances within the festival and appearance at the embassy! 🎶
