Embassy of the Netherlands in Czechia

Today it is 10 years since Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was brought down over eastern Ukraine. The flight was on its way from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. On board were 283 passengers and 15 crew members. Among the passengers were 196 Dutch nationals. In the aftermath the government set three priorities: repatriating and identifying the victims, establishing the cause of the crash and conducting a criminal investigation. The Netherlands remains committed to establishing the truth of what happened, achieving justice for all 298 victims and their families, and holding those responsible to account. Every year on 17 July the MH17 Aviation Disaster Foundation organises a commemorative ceremony for the next of kin at the National MH17 Monument in Vijfhuizen. A livestream of the ceremony can be viewed on www.mh17.org We extend our deepest sympathy to the victims’ families and all others directly impacted by the disaster.
