Embassy of the Netherlands in Czechia

One year ago today, Russia launched its large-scale military invasion of Ukraine. At the Embassy, we are keenly aware that the Russian aggression brings back memories in many Central and Eastern European countries of their own experience with Soviet oppression.
The parallels between what is happening in Ukraine and what happened to Czechia in 1938 and 1968 are obvious. Czechs recognize the oppressive and colonial character of Russia’s war. That’s why we appreciate the Czech leadership, in particular during its EU Presidency, and are proud to stand side-by-side with Czechia in support of Ukraine.
With military support, with humanitarian aid and with seeking justice for the many victims of Russian war crimes. We are determined to do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes.
