(Dutch) Streets Meet (Czech) Mural Art 🎨
“Street Meets (Mural) Art” is one of the projects prepared by the Česká centra/Czech Centres for the period of the Czech EU Presidency. Tsjechisch Centrum Nederland is involved in the project in collaboration with the Blind Walls Gallery. During September, a new mural by the Czech illustrator Patrik Antczak illustration has been created in the historic city centre of Gemeente Breda near the Stedelijk Gymnasium Breda.
The theme of the mural is based on the common theme of the whole project, which is “Neighbourhood-Community-Reciprocity”. The students of the Gymnasium participated not only in the research of motifs, but also in the painting process itself. In Patrik Antczak’s mural art, Čapek’s robot, the thinker and peacemaker Jan Amos Komenský, the visionary mayor of Breda Antonius Guljé, Kazimir Malevich and the goddess of wisdom Pallas Athena meet on one wall.
The unveiling ceremony takes place today and will be attended by Czech Ambassador H.E. Kateřina Sequensová and Mayor of Breda Mr. Paul Depla.
