Endless queues in Antala Staška Street in Prague 4. Metro D shows its opposite face

The ongoing construction of metro line D greatly complicates traffic in Prague 4. Specifically, in Antala Staška Street, approximately one kilometer long from the intersection with Na Strži Street. By default, you can drive it from the Green Lane to the Budějovická subway in a minute. Now add another twenty-nine. And it won’t get better right away.

“These are complications related to the construction of the new D metro line, which started a few weeks ago. With the return of the citizens of Prague from holidays and the increase in traffic on the roads, the situation became more complicated,” Jiří Bigas, spokesman for Prague 4, told the editorial office on Tuesday.

The interactive map of the construction works really draws attention to significant complications. Expect a delay of more than 30 minutes during rush hour, it says, noting that this is work on subway D in Na Strži Street.

But nothing is being dug in Antala Staška Street. The reason for the delays is apparently the restriction of the right lane at the intersection with Na Strži Street, the excavated beginning of the Green Lane and the closure of the direction from Jeremenkova Street.

The mentioned lane is also blocked and barricaded. A single corridor for all directions remained for both turning and driving in a straight direction. In addition, it is necessary to add that a temporary stop for buses 121, 124, 134 was created just before the narrowing, which can be seen in the opening photo.

To make matters worse, many drivers do not wait in line and inexplicably drive in the opposite direction where they park. The PrahaIN.cz reporter saw two employees of the Česká spořitelna branch on Monday and the following morning on Tuesday.

Wait and wait

The editors also found out how long the construction will take and how long the drivers have to be patient.

“This is not a TSK construction event. You must contact the investor of this building (the investor is DP, editor’s note). From June 9, 2022 to October 31, 2022, Na Strži street in the Jeremenkova – Antala Staška section, direction from the center, is closed. The reason for the work on the road is the replacement of protective pads related to the construction of subway D. The consent was issued by the PKD MHMP department,” TSK spokeswoman Barbora Lišková told us.

We turned to the town hall again, but they told us that the mentioned work is being carried out by TSK.

TSK referred us to a transport company.

And the transport company? “I believe that the question should be directed more towards TSK?” wrote the spokeswoman of the Prague DP Aneta Řehková.
