Exploring the Easter Markets at Old Town Square in Prague

Easter Markets in Prague’s Old Town Square: An Overview

Prague’s Old Town Square is once again bursting with life and energy as the Easter Markets take center stage. Visitors from all over the world flock to this historic landmark to experience the holiday spirit and take in the sights and sounds of the bustling markets.

The markets, which run from early morning until late at night, cover almost the entire Old Town Square. The stands offer a wide variety of food, souvenirs, and Easter-themed products. Among the most popular items are the painted, wooden, and blown eggs, as well as gingerbread with Easter motifs.

While prices for Easter items may be higher, visitors will have a souvenir to take home. The same cannot be said for the food and drinks, which can be quite expensive. A hot dog wrapped in dough and fried, for example, costs 120 crowns, while a lángos costs 150 crowns, and a spiral potato costs 90 crowns. Beverages are also pricey, with a half-liter of water costing 60 crowns and Pilsner beer costing 75 crowns.

Despite the high prices, visitors can still enjoy the festive atmosphere and the beauty of the Old Town Square. The markets are also an excellent opportunity to learn about Czech culture and traditions, as well as to mingle with locals and tourists alike.

In addition to the food and drinks, there are also various entertainment options, including live music, dance performances, and cultural shows. Children will also have plenty of activities to keep them busy, such as Easter egg decorating and face painting.

Overall, the Easter Markets in Prague’s Old Town Square are a must-see for anyone visiting the city during the holiday season. While the prices may be steep, the festive atmosphere, cultural experiences, and unique souvenirs make it well worth the trip.
