Fiala: Russian mobilization shows who the aggressor is
According to Prime Minister Petr Fiala, the announced partial mobilization of the Russian army proves that Russia is the sole aggressor and aims to escalate the conflict further. He said it is, therefore, necessary to persevere in helping Ukraine, which the Russians invaded in February.
“The partial mobilization announced by Vladimir Putin is an effort to escalate further the war unleashed by Russia in Ukraine and further proof that Russia is the only aggressor,” Fiala said on Twitter on Wednesday in response to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement of a partial mobilization that would affect some 300,000 reservists.
According to Interior Minister Vit Rakusan (STAN), the move falls on “Putin’s lie about a ‘special operation.’” He believes the Russian president cannot win the bloody conflict against Ukraine or the energy war against Europe.
Defence Minister Jana Černochová (ODS) believes the Russian president was attempting to maintain his public image by announcing the partial mobilization.
“The international community has long known that Putin is already sending whoever is at hand to Ukraine. Including prisoners and people who have nothing to do with the military. Mobilization will do nothing to help this because there is no indication that there is anyone else to mobilize,” the minister said.
According to the head of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Marek Zhenisek (TOP 09), Putin is “an absolute madman who must be stopped.” Like the prime minister and Minister Chernochova, he called for continued support for the Ukrainians, who have been pushing Russian aggressors out of occupied areas in recent weeks.
