Havel vs. Kolář

Petr Pavel said in MFD on Tues. that he would probably pose a greater threat to Andrej Babiš in the second round of the presidential elections than Danuše Nerudová because Babiš knows very well that he (Pavel) has neither a holding-company lobby nor a large law firm behind him. Nerudová hit back at Pavel last night on TV Prima with regard to Havel & Partners, where her husband works, by saying that he should explain how he would resolve his own conflict of interest of having Petr Kolář of an important international law firm on his team. This law firm (Squire Patton Boggs) lobbied against sanctions on Russia and represented Gazprom and Agrofert, she said, and Kolář lobbies for the Czech defense industry. Pavel brushed it off by saying that Kolář isn’t on his team and won’t be, but these accusations of conflicts of interest demand greater scrutiny. Too bad there wasn’t a televised debate of Jaroslav Havel and Petr Kolář. It’s always better to hear things straight from the horse’s mouth.
