On the 7th December, the Embassy of Kazakhstan has organised its own Independence Day at the Hotel President, in the center of Prague. This day represents an important bank holiday in Kazakhstan.  Kazakhstan emerged as an independent country after the dissolution of the Soviet Union but has been in fact the last of the former Soviet Republics to declare its independence.  The Kazakh State pushed to maintain a strong relationship with other former Soviet Republics and the Agreement for the creation of the Community of Independent States was signed in Alma Ata (Almaty), former capital of Kazakhstan.

The event has been really very pleasant. Guests have been welcomed by a number of young Kazakh ladies and gentlemen wearing traditional costumes.  After the traditional speeches, a rich and delicious buffet has been offered, followed by a musical performance which has added to the charm of the event.
