New Prague to Tbilisi Flights on Georgian Wings
Georgian Wings, a commercial part of Georgian Cargo airline, Geo-Sky, based at Tbilisi International Airport, that operates in both local and international markets, announced that it intends to commence a non-stop route from Prague to Tbilisi, with flights operating twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays starting from May 4, 2024.
Adding another direct link to the Caucasus region will not only enhance business collaboration opportunities between the Czech Republic and Georgia, but it will also provide Czech tourists with a fantastic chance to explore the lesser-known areas of the Georgian capital and its nearby regions. This route will be served by a Boeing 737-300 aircraft, which can accommodate up to 148 passengers.
“We are glad that we managed to resume the direct connection with Tbilisi. This is the second route to Georgia, which is positive news for several reasons, for example in terms of enhancing both inbound and outbound tourism. Travelers from both countries enjoy a visa-free regime. And there’s more; Georgia is one of the fastest growing economies in the Caucasus region, so we are thrilled that this connection, which also offers interesting economic opportunities as another way to boost international trade between the two countries, will be launched. We believe that the route will become popular with a large number of passengers and will build on its successful past operation,” Jaroslav Filip, Prague Airport Aviation Business Director, said.
The capital of Georgia rests at the base of the mountains and is known as the Pearl of the Caucasus. It offers numerous opportunities for both conventional and unconventional travel experiences. In the heart of the city, visitors can explore notable sites such as Freedom Square, which features a statue of St. George, and Rustaveli Street, where the National Museum is located. Additionally, the city is home to the Orthodox Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, known as Sameba in Georgian. Another noteworthy attraction is the Narikala Fortress, which includes the St. Nicholas church and offers the best panoramic view of the city and the Mtkvari river. Don’t miss out on the Mtatsminda amusement park, which offers a plethora of attractions. To unwind after a bustling day, make sure to indulge in the relaxation provided by a traditional sulphur spa house, with the Sulphur Bath and the Royal Bath being the most renowned options.
“I am delighted to announce the exciting news of Georgian Wings‘ upcoming direct flights from Prague to Tbilisi, commencing on May 4. This new route signifies not only a convenient link between two beautiful destinations but also a significant step towards fostering closer ties between the Czech Republic and Georgia.
