Paurova’s family travels from Czech Republic to watch her set career-high for Beavers

“Dreamy scenario,” Beavers head coach Scott Rueck said. “It’s these types of moments we hope for, for everyone.”

On Friday night, multiple dreams came true for Oregon State freshman guard Dominika Paurova. She scored a career-high 17 points in her NCAA Tournament debut. She also got to do that in front of her family, who made the long trip from the Czech Republic to see her play.

“Yeah, it was a surprise for her,” said Dominka’s mom, Ava. “We wanted to help her because she’s alone for six months. After we knew that Oregon State would be the 3-seed, we booked the tickets.”

The surprise was a more than welcome one for Dominika, who also celebrated her 19th birthday on Friday.

Her mother, father and sister first took a 2-hour flight from Prague to Amsterdam. Then, they travelled 12 hours from the Netherlands to the United States. Safe to say the journey was worth it.
