Prague Zoo Plans to Increase Admission Fees for Adults and Children

Prague Zoo has announced its plan to raise admission prices for adults and children buying tickets at the box office. The adult admission fee will increase from 250 to 330 crowns, while the children’s entry fee will rise from 200 to 250 crowns. However, if people purchase their tickets online, the entrance fee for children will remain unchanged, and adults will pay 300 crowns. This decision is a result of the current extreme increase in the cost of living and energy.

Other types of tickets will also experience a similar price increase. Pensioners and disabled visitors will continue to pay the same price of 150 crowns, and seniors over 70 years old will pay a symbolic one crown. This is the second time the zoo has raised its prices, with the last increase happening in 2020.

The councilors are expected to discuss the new price plan after Easter, which will take effect after the city leadership approves it. The price increase will be minor for e-tickets to encourage people to purchase tickets online.

Zoo director Miroslav Bobek believes that the rise in energy and other commodity prices makes this increase necessary, and the admission prices have been adjusted thoughtfully and sensitively. Similarly, Deputy Mayor Jana Komrsková (Pirates) considers the price increase to be a logical consequence of these external factors.

Family admission for two adults and up to four children will also experience a price increase. Currently, it costs 800 crowns, but it will now cost 1,000 crowns at the box office and 850 crowns online. Dog owners will also have to pay more, with their admission fee increasing from 100 to 150 crowns.

Moreover, annual passes with 12 entries will undergo significant increases. For adults, the price will increase from 1,000 to 1,800 crowns, and for children, it will rise from 600 to 900 crowns. Pensioners’ annual pass will increase from 450 to 600 crowns, and families will pay 4,000 crowns instead of 2,500 crowns.

Prague Zoo is one of the most visited places in Prague, housing 685 species of animals. Nearly 1.42 million visitors came to the zoo last year, which is slightly less than the previous pre-Covid year of 2019, when 1.46 million people visited. The garden opened to visitors for the first time on September 28, 1931.
