PRODUCTION: Ivan Tymchenko’s Ukrainian/Czech/Swedish/Slovak Oxygen Station Almost Ready for Premiere

PRAGUE: Ukrainian director/screenwriter Ivan Tymchenko is almost ready for the premiere of his new project, the Ukrainian/Czech/Swedish/Slovak feature film Oxygen Station / Kyslíková Stanice.

Year 1980, USSR. Crimean Tatar rights activist and political prisoner Mustafa Jemilev is exiled to the Zyryanka settlement in Siberia, where he must work at the oxygen station. Three people are headed toward him across the huge country with vastly different goals: to meet, to destroy, to protect. Love, hate and faith are their drivers.

“The idea of the project appeared in 2015, when Russia annexed Crimea. Through our film we wanted to remind the world what a twisted monster Russia is, at the same time we were looking for stories of heroes who fought and won, stories that we are really missing nowadays,” producer Svitlana Soloviova told FNE.

The main cast includes Borys Orlov, Khrystyna Deilyk, Viktor Poltoratskyi, Viacheslav Zhyla, Beso Moistsrapishvili, Vasyl Kukharskyi, Edem Ibadullaev, Serhiy Petko and Olena Vakhrameeva.

The film is produced by Svitlana Soloviova’s Svitlofor Film (Ukraine) in coproduction with Alzbeta Janackova’s Silk Films (Czech Republic), Peter Krupenin’s HOBAB (Sweden) and Flying Colors Pictures (Slovakia), in partnership with RBB (Germany) and SVT (Sweden).

The Ukrainian State Film Agency and the Czech Film Fund are supporting the project. The total budget is 826,570 EUR.

The film was shot in Ukraine May – October 2021.

The premiere date will be announced soon.
