Strong winds are expected to sweep through the Czech Republic, meteorologists warn
The Czech Republic is set to experience strong winds on Friday and Saturday, with gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour expected. The warning from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute will be in effect in the afternoon in the western regions of Bohemia and will extend to the Vysočina region and southern Bohemia in the evening.
By Saturday noon, the warning will extend to the rest of the territory except for Zlín and parts of the South Moravian Region, and will remain in force until 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Due to the waterlogged ground, branches are likely to break, and trees could be uprooted. Additionally, warm winds and rain will cause rapid snowmelt in the mountains, which could cause flooding and landslides.
It is important for residents and visitors to be aware of the weather warning and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. This includes securing loose objects such as outdoor furniture and keeping away from potentially dangerous areas like parks or forests.
In case of emergency, residents are advised to call the emergency services immediately. It is also recommended that people stay updated on weather forecasts and follow any additional warnings issued by local authorities.
It is worth noting that extreme weather events are becoming increasingly common due to climate change. Governments around the world are taking steps to address the issue and mitigate its impact, but individuals also have a role to play in reducing their carbon footprint and taking actions to combat climate change.
In conclusion, the strong winds expected in the Czech Republic over the weekend can cause damage and pose a threat to public safety. Therefore, it is important for everyone to stay vigilant, take necessary precautions, and heed any advice or warnings issued by local authorities.
