The difference in betting odds between the presidential candidates widened again

Prague is a city known for its rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant culture. However, in recent news, the city is also making headlines for its presidential election. The difference in betting odds between the two candidates, Petr Pavel and Andrej Babiš, has increased again, with Pavel having odds of 1.04:1 to win and Babiš at 12:1.

Petr Pavel, a former high representative of the army, has seen his odds slightly strengthen in the past two days due to his public appearances and debates with Babiš. On the other hand, Babiš, the chairman of the ANO movement, has seen his odds weaken, losing three points in the past two days.

According to Pavol Boško, head bookmaker and political betting specialist at Tipsport, “Peter Pavle’s lead is significant and can be compared in football terminology to when Slavia Prague leads 2:0 in the first league in the 86th minute of the match. Of course, we also accept bets on Mr. Andrej Babiš’s win, his fans still believe that he can turn the situation around still to turn.”

Bookmakers are reporting that this year’s presidential election has a record number of bets, with domestic offices expecting to surpass the record from 2018 of around 285 million crowns. The main part of the second round of voting will take place on Friday from 14:00 to 22:00 and on Saturday from 08:00 to 14:00. The outcome of this election will determine the future head of state and successor to Miloš Zeman.
