The French Film Festival in the Czech Republic celebrates its 25th anniversary!

The 25th French Film Festival in the Czech Republic, organized by the Ambassade de France in the Czech RepublicInstitut Français in Prague, and Unifrance takes place from November 24 through 30, with a strong edition featuring more than 50 films..

This year, the French Film Festival will present 54 films over 159 sessions, and the premiere screenings offers 14 features, presented in Prague and other regions, including several films that were selected for Official Competition at the latest Cannes Film Festival in May.

The cinemas hosting this anniversary edition are the Institut Français’ Kino 35, Lucerna, Světozor, and Edison Filmhub cinemas, in Prague The festival takes place simultaneously in the cities of Brno, České Budějovice, Hradec Králové, and Ostrava.

The event will open with Little Nicholas – Happy as Can Be, after the film scooped the top feature film award at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The second part of the evening will be devoted to the French director François Truffaut and his film Confidentially Yours starring Fanny Ardant and Jean-Louis Trintignant.

At the Světozor, the cult film Amelie will get things under way, followed by The Blue Caftan by Maryam Touzani in the evening slot. The director is filmmaker in focus this year.
