On the 7th October, the Nigerian Embassy has organized the celebration of the Nigerian Independence Day at the prestigious venue of the Hotel Grandium in the Heart of Prague.

The Independence Day, which officially falls on the 1st October, is a very important and well felt event in Nigeria. On the 1st October 1960, Nigeria obtained independence from the British rulers. On this anniversary, the President of Nigeria addresses his compatriots, a parade is held and students of all levels of Schools are also directly involved in the ceremonies.

In Prague, the event has been presided by His Excellency Kevin Peter, who has greeted the guests and explained the meaning of the Day for his country, offering a video. Diplomats from various Embassies have participated together with other selected guests.  Delicious refreshments have been served.
