The state of insolvencies in the Czech Republic in the first half of the year

The current state of business insolvencies and insolvencies of citizens will be the main topics of the online round table on Thursday, June 30, 2022. Jarmila Veselá, CEO of InsolCentrum, Ladislav Minčič, Director of the Legislation, Law and Analysis Department of the Czech Chamber of Commerce, Robert Němec, Chairman of the Board of the Czech Bar Association, David Šmejkal, Director of the Financial Distress Counseling, and Antonín Stanislav, Deputy Minister of Justice, will evaluate, recommend and predict further developments. A significant part of the discussion is mainly devoted to the indebtedness of natural persons. It is household loans that significantly exceed those of non-financial corporations.

The Czech Republic is facing a difficult period. They are facing decisions on how to deal with the economic effects of the pandemic, the war, the immigration of Ukrainian refugees, the energy crisis and rising inflation. People are concerned about the current situation and are worried about the coming months. The business community is also concerned about future developments.

The participants of the round table, which starts at 10:00, will answer the question whether people and companies are already going bankrupt. Students will learn the exact data and specific details of who and in what insolvency problems is and how serious the situation is. The discussants will answer the question of how they see the future of insolvency proceedings and what they recommend as the next step. A serious topic will be the debate on how to implement the European Restructuring and Second Chance Directive and whether to further reduce the parameters for debt relief. At the round table, you will find out how many people have already been released from debt and how much they have paid to their creditors. Data on the total indebtedness of households and the amount owed by people and companies to the state will also be heard.
