The temperature dropped to -25 degrees

On Tuesday, temperatures dropped well below freezing in the Czech Republic. In Pohorje in the Bohemian Forest, temperatures reached as low as 25.8 degrees Fahrenheit. The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) reported that frost was prevalent in the Novohradské hory, Šumava, and Ore Mountains, where temperatures reached around -25 degrees Fahrenheit.

However, some areas, such as Jizerka in the Jizera Mountains, were not as cold as usual, with temperatures measuring at -9 degrees Celsius. The country’s southwest was significantly colder, with temperatures dropping to -12 degrees in non-mountain areas, and south-eastern Moravia was around -3 degrees.

Road engineers are advising drivers to be cautious on both lower-class roads with snow and large roads that are wet. Salt loses its effectiveness in severe frost and more is required as temperatures drop. The thermometer’s mercury is expected to remain below freezing for the entire day, hovering around -5 degrees, with clear skies.
