Two schoolboys in Prague turn in abandoned backpack containing money and food to the police

Two 13-year-old schoolboys in Prague, Yahim and Bartolomey, recently demonstrated exemplary behavior by turning in an abandoned backpack they found on a tram. The backpack contained food and 10,000 crowns, the currency of the Czech Republic. Instead of keeping the money for themselves, the boys took the backpack to the police.

The police press service commended the boys for their actions and shared a photograph of them, holding them up as an example for other young people and adults in the capital. The police officers disposed of the perishable food found in the backpack and sent the backpack to the Lost Property Office, where the owner can claim it and their money at Karolíny Světlé 5, Praha 1.

Under the Civil Code of the Czech Republic, the finder of lost property is entitled to a reward of 10% of the value of the find. However, if the lost item is valuable only to the owner, the owner may determine the size of the reward.

Yahim and Bartolomey’s behavior has inspired many people, and their story has gone viral on social media, where they have been praised for their honesty and integrity. Many people have expressed admiration for the boys, saying that they serve as an excellent example for young people everywhere.

In a world where it is easy to become cynical and mistrustful of others, the actions of Yahim and Bartolomey are a reminder that there are still good people in the world who do the right thing, even when no one is looking. Their actions demonstrate that honesty, integrity, and a commitment to doing what is right are timeless values that are still very much alive and well today.
