Villa Portheimka in Prague 5 Presents United Prague 5 Music Festival: Free Outdoor Concerts for Summer Delight
Villa Portheimka in Prague’s charming Smíchov district is set to resonate with the melodies of a free outdoor concert series this summer. As an integral facet of the United Prague 5 music festival, these performances will grace the stage for four consecutive Thursday evenings from August 17 to September 7, 2023.
The evenings will come alive with a diverse lineup of eight performers hailing from various musical genres, commencing at 5:30 PM each Thursday. The series kicks off with Matěj Ruppert, acclaimed as the lead vocalist of the renowned Czech band Monkey Business. Following this dynamic opening act, attendees will be treated to captivating performances by Jay Delver and the Martin Rufer Prague Trio.
The musical journey continues with appearances by Nika, Lazer Viking, Hellwana, and Meizyy. The crescendo of this harmonious spectacle is the closing concert on September 7, featuring none other than Michal Prokop from the celebrated band Framus 5.
The enchanting park setting in front of Villa Portheimka on Náměstí 14—Října will serve as the stage for these captivating concerts, with open entry available for all visitors. This cultural delight is a joint effort by Prague 5 and the United Islands of Prague festival. Established in 2004, the United Islands of Prague festival traditionally graces the city in May or June, enveloping locations like Kampa Island in its artistic embrace.
Jaroslav Pašmik, the Mayor of Prague 5, expressed the intent behind these concerts, aiming to provide residents with an enchanting summer evening experience. He emphasized, “I believe that this concise concert series at Portheimka Park will render summer evenings more pleasurable for our citizens. We have meticulously curated a selection of performers, and the early evening start time ensures convenience for all attendees. The concerts will conclude by 8:30 PM, preserving the tranquility of the evening for our residents without undue noise disturbance.”
